Boat Owners / Mooring Holders Responsibilities

In accepting a POG mooring, members must comply with certain rules and accept certain responsibilities, and mooring offers can be withdrawn if there are significant breaches of these rules. The rules are laid out in Standing Orders (SOs) and summarised in Things You Need To Know At POG. In some cases, satisfying responsibilities involves interaction with the website and these are highlighted below along with relevant links.

Maintain insurance

POG members must retain insurance cover for their boat in accordance with SO 10.2. If you change your insurance, please update your insurance provider and policy number in 'My Boats'.

Report problems you see

If you notice a problem with another member's boat, let them know. Contacts can be found at the bottom of the boat's page in the Boat Directory.

If you notice a problem with a POG mooring, let one of the moorings team know.

Report any damage you cause

Accidents can happen. If you do make contact with another member's boat, let them know using the Boat Directory as above.

Comply with terms and conditions for bookings

Members must fully understand and comply with the terms and conditions associated with bookings for Amenity Berths, the Drying Grid and Temporary Berths. These terms and conditions are stated in these links, highlighted when the booking is made, and fully documented in Standing Orders. They mainly relate to the overall number of different bookings that can be made, and the conditions for vacating a booked resource.

Display your KHM disc

It is a condition of operating in Portsmouth Harbour and having a POG mooring to display a KHM disc (SO 7.1.2). Please ensure you replace your KHM disc sticker promptly when you receive it. At the same time, check that your new KHM number is recorded correctly in the 'Disc Number' field in 'My Boats'.

Declare your winter intentions and preferences

Every year, in July/August, POG boat owners (including those without a POG mooring) MUST inform the moorings team of their intentions and preferences for the forthcoming winter, as explained here.

Maintain your boat data

There are a number of editable data fields in each boat's data record in 'My Boats' which should be maintained by the Mooring Holder (they are read-only to other co-owners). It is mandatory that the insurance provider and policy number data fields are kept up to date. Maintenance of data that aids identification and communication such as MMSI number, sail number and boat images is also important.

Inform the moorings team of any significant changes to your boat or its ownership

Boat owners must contact the moorings team if their boat is leaving POG for whatever reason (being sold, relocated, scrapped or has sunk)

Boat owners must submit a new Boat Registration form if they acquire a replacement boat or make significant changes to their current boat or its ownership, specifically;

- There is an intention to change the Mooring Holder of the boat

- There are any changes to the other co-owners and their shares

- There are changes to the boat's overall dimensions

- There is a change of the boat's name

Maintain contact details

All POG members must maintain up-to-date contact details in 'My Profile'. This is especially important for boat owners in case they need to be contacted regarding a problem with their boat. Please ensure your preferences for phone numbers and email addresses are set to 'Members' so that other members have multiple means of making contact in case of an urgent problem.

All POG members are encouraged to include details of an emergency contact in their profile. This is strongly encouraged for solo boat owners with no additional contacts registered (that is, no co-owners), given the potential hazards associated with boarding or maintaining a boat alone.
