Amenity Berths

There are three amenity berths on the Weevil Lake pontoons situated on the outside of the hammerheads on "A", "B" and "G" row jetties as shown below and on the marina plan.

The amenity berths have no allocation constraints provided the boat is not too large for the space available. They are intended primarily for access to Weevil Lake by POG registered boats moored in other locations for the purpose of loading stores or crew, watering, or carrying out minor repairs. Water and electricity are available from the Amenity Berths, but for power you will need a POG Smart Card for the meter with sufficient credit. Crews who are unfamiliar with Weevil Lake should be aware that the tide runs strongly southwards when the causeway to Burrow Island is covered, around 2 hours either side of High Water.

The berths must be booked in advance. To make best use of the available space and allow larger boats or those who are coming down from Wicor shorthanded to use the amenity berths, members should see if a Temporary Berth is available before booking an Amenity Berth.

The amenity berths are only available during the summer sailing season (April to end October) as in winter they are used as additional winter moorings. If a berth is required for a short time in Weevil Lake during the winter season, there will often be a berth available; contact the moorings team.

How to book an Amenity Berth

Book Amenity berths HERE. Firstly, select one of the three berths; as they accommodate different size boats please book the smallest berth possible to leave the others free for potential use by larger boats. If your boat is too large for any Amenity Berth, please contact moorings. Secondly, select the desired timeslot and date from those available. There are 6 timeslots to choose from eveyday, 5 daytime slots and an overnight slot:

0900-1000 / 1000-1200 / 1200-1400 / 1400-1600 / 1600-1800 / 1800-0900

There is no charge for the 1hr or 2hr daytime timeslots; there is a £5 charge for the 1800-0900 overnight slot.

All Amenity Berth slots are available on a first come first served basis. However, members MUST abide by the terms and conditions (see below) regarding the number of active bookings allowable, and the spacing between them.

If you need to cancel an Amenity Berth booking, please contact moorings.

Amenity Berth Terms and Conditions of use

See Standing Orders A.8 for full details.

A maximum of 2 active Amenity Berth / Temporary Berth bookings is allowed at any one time. These could be;

  • 2 daytime (max 2 hours) Amenity Berth bookings
  • 1 daytime (max 2 hours) Amenity Berth booking and 1 overnight Amenity Berth booking
  • 1 Amenity Berth booking and 1 Temporary Berth booking
  • But NOT 2 overnight Amenity Berth bookings

Additionally, there is a minimum period of 2 hours between any booking.

Bookings exceeding these limits will be deleted without notice.

Also;

  • Members use amenity berths at their own risk
  • To help ensure only the Club members use the berths, either the Club or the CSSA burgees or House Flags must be flown by all vessels moored to an amenity berth (POG flags and burgess are available from the shop). Any boat moored on an Amenity berth without flying an appropriate burgee will be challenged.
  • The fairway must not be obstructed, so wider boats should use A hammerhead.
  • Rafting out from the Amenity Berths is strictly forbidden because of the width of the channel.
  • The club may close the availability of the amenity berths at any time as required for operational reasons. Where possible these closures will be advised to the membership in advance.
