Civil Service Sailing Centre, Weevil Lane, Gosport, PO12 1AZ
Portsmouth Offshore Group (POG) is a self-help club based in Gosport whose aims include promotion of sailing and boating to its members. Maintenance and improvement of the clubs facilities both shore and marine is undertaken by members on a voluntary basis. As a result our mooring fees are much lower than commercial rates. We are part of the Civil Service Sailing Association (CSSA) which is, in turn, a part of the Civil Service Sports Council (CSSC). We have a full calendar of sailing, training and social events and welcome new membership.
We have a total of 246 moorings in Portsmouth Harbour. We occasionally have spare moorings on the 44 midstream pontoon moorings at Wicor reach or the 27 swinging moorings at Burrow Island. By joining the club you may be able to take up one of these (depending on your boat) and in time improve your mooring when granted one of our other 6 midstream moorings at Haslar Creek or the 175 walk ashore pontoons moorings in Weevil Lake.
Initially you may become a provisional member of the club itself by completing the application form here . You would then need to go through the process of joining CSSC and then join CSSA over the next few months to complete the your application.
To join CSSC (Civil Service Sports Council) – you can see if you’re eligible click here. As you will see, even if you weren’t in the Civil or Public Service you may be able to join through a friend or family member.
Once you have your CSSC membership number you can apply to join CSSA (Civil Service Sailing Association). Membership of this is free but it is our parent body so you must join CSSA to complete your membership process. For details and to download an application form click here.
Once you have your CSSC and CSSA membership details, to complete your membership and be eligible for moorings in the future, then go to Your Account details in the Members section and add the numbers. Alternatively you can email them to the Membership Secretary.
