Civil Service Portsmouth Offshore Group (POG) has moorings of several kinds to accommodate both different lengths and types of boats as well as providing different levels of affordable moorings.

Pontoon moorings are situated in several places –

In Weevil Lake with both water and electricity supply on the moorings with walk-ashore access from the Club car park

A small number of pontoon moorings are also situated within Haslar Creek with access through JSSA (Joint Services Sailing Association) providing reasonably priced bar and meal facilities in Hornet Sailing Club. We also have dinghy storage there for moored members.

Many more midstream pontoon moorings are situated at Wicor Reach with secure access through Vector

Swinging moorings are situated around Burrow Island and can be accessed via POG’s main Weevil Lane Sailing Centre with storage for dinghies and a slipway.

All our moorings allow access to the Solent and Isle of Wight for cruising and travel further afield without having to use tidal locks. There are many club events across the year with trips to these locations.

We have a specially built Club House which includes private and spacious toilet and shower facilities, large kitchen /galley facilities with fridge, freezer, oven, microwaves which are a great help to those with smaller boats if you prefer to cook or shower away from your boat.

There’s a spacious well appointed meeting room upstairs for members’ use which look out across Portsmouth Harbour and Weevil Lake moorings which seats up to 90 people for both club and private functions.

The centre itself has a disabled friendly access including a stair lift to the upper floor. There is also a club workshop with benches, vices and stand drill for members to use.

There is ample tarmac parking for members and friends and very large locked security gates will give you the protection you need to keep your car and boat safe.

Part of the secure site is compacted stone, this is where we store boats both overwinter and during short seasonal lifts. The club can store nearly 50 boats ashore during the winter lift.

The club owns a tractor and Roodberg trailer that are used for the lift and launching of boats. This equipment is operated by club members in co-ordinated work parties.
